Praying mantis

Today while we were down on the field Monaro found a praying mantis.  The whole class were very excited to look at it.  Everyone squealed with delight when it began to spread it's wings.  We put the praying mantis back amongst the harakeke.  Below the photos are some interesting facts about praying mantis.






1. Most praying mantis live in the tropics.

2. Praying mantis can turn their heads 180 degrees.

3. Praying mantis' have special front legs to catch their prey.

4. Praying mantis' have binocular vision, but only one ear.
